Management
Tom McCoy, Founding Partner
With over 25 years of telecommunications experience, Tom felt there needed to be a paradigm shift in the way solutions were presented to customers. Tired of the single-minded, "one size fits all" approach of traditional carriers and sales organizations, he created Xilec. Xilec was founded to allow solutions to be engineered based on customer needs, not the product the Marketing Department was "pushing" for the current month.
These ideas were formed based on experience Tom has had working with a wide range of customers and carriers. His clients have ranged from major carriers in the U.S. and South America to end-user customers across the U.S. and international destinations such as the United Arab Emirates. He has worked with all the Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOCs), coordinating entrance facilities, collocations, central office equipment placement, as well as developing regulatory policy.
Tom has held senior sales and marketing management positions at US WEST, now Qwest. He brings international and major carrier experience as well as a customer perspective to XILEC. Under his direction XILEC has created a cellular/wireless division and is currently embarking on a strategy to include global satellite communications to serve areas in the world that currently are beyond the reach of the Internet. XILEC has also created a telecom management/outsourcing group to serve both existing and new customers.
Scott Jensen, Founding Partner
As a founding Partner in XILEC, Scott Jensen wanted to bring integrity back to Telecommunications. Scott left a senior marketing executive role at Qwest to bring his expertise in Government and Education to XILEC. Scott spent more than 20 years at Qwest and US WEST where he developed and managed the largest education network in the State of Utah. Scott's customers include the University of Utah, City of Sandy and Weber School District. Under his leadership and vision, XILEC has become a Major force in the Government and Education Sector. His expertise involves Procurement, RFP, RFI, E-Rate and third party marketing channels. In addition Scott is highly skilled in network optimization and design. Scott received his telecommunications training under the direction of AT&T in Phoenix, AZ.
